Make Believe

Sometimes, when I have an event to attend and I need a new outfit I pretend that the word budget to me is foreign. I go onto online shops such as net-a-porter.com and pretend I can buy whatever I want. Muffin is going to be a groomsman in a wedding held in Rehoboth Beach Delaware in October, so this gave me the perfect chance to play dress up on net-a-porter. I have never been to Rehoboth Beach and an quite unfamiliar with Northern beaches in general, especially in October, so I am not sure that these would work....but I still love them! Anybody who has been to Rehoboth and can imagine what it would be like in October, please chime in!This Issa dress is so gorgeous. I think the shape is perfect for a wedding guest to wear, however I am not sure the color would work anywhere in October. I would put a beautiful wrap over it to wear during the ceremony if it was in a church. I would wear it with these silver Jimmy Choo's below. I love baby blue and silver together.

I am obsessed with this dress. I think that the color would work for an October wedding. It's not a flashy dress but still looks like it fits like a dream. I am WAY shorter than that model so it would be a bit longer on me which would probably be a good thing.
I would wear that brown dress with these Jimmy Choo's... I love the coral stones with the color of the dress.
I LOVE pink and I LOVE frills. This is one of those dresses that probably appeals more to women than men. Muffin probably hates this dress. I think it is fun and flirty, and the pink would go beautiful with these babies...
I have wanted these shoes ever since I laid eyes on them. I first saw them in nude on Jennifer Aniston. Pink and gold look great together!

So, I am guessing the only outfit out of the three above that would work would be the brown dress with either one of the gold Jimmy Choo's. Even though the chances of me getting one of these outfits is pretty low, I think it's a good place to start. I can probably easily find a similar dress in color for a better deal, and if I really REALLY budget myself (remember this wedding is in October) I just might, maybe, hopefully, be able to get one of the shoes.

Can't get enough

I have to admit that a few weeks ago I wasn't too into the Royal Wedding but that definitely changed today. I cannot get over how gorgeous Kate looks! (ps loving the facial expressions of the little tot on Kate's right). The best pictures of the wedding that I have come across are the high resolution ones on cnn.com, click here to see. My parents are off to London soon and I have asked them to get me a William and Kate commemorative mug, that way when I drink my morning coffee I will have a friendly reminder of this beautiful royal couple while hopefully enjoying breakfast with my very own prince charming, muffin.

Royal Wedding Gorgeousness

Several people owe me money. I bet that Kate's dress would have long lace sleeves. I could not imagine her walking down the aisle in a cap sleeved dress or strapless number nonetheless. Anyways, I think she looks absolutely beautiful, especially her makeup. The cut of the dress is to die for. In my opinion, a bride should look like a cupcake bride.

Nowadays you are likely to see bride's wearing the dress of the lovely Pippa holding up Kate's gown. I saw some close ups of that dress and its so pretty.
Pretty pretty princess. Understated flowers no? I like it though.
And skinny minnie!
Oh yea you-Looking good! It reminds me of the army blues men wear here. So special!!!

My Eyes!!!

I kid. I didn't think I had words for that atrocity but I changed my mind. J.Crew thinks its awesome because it combines 1) denim and a romper and 2) because it was washed a whole bunch to give it that lovely acid wash look. I strongly disagree. Can you even imagine what it would look like with the sleeves and pant legs rolled down? I wouldn't wish that thing on my worst enemy.

Thankfully, J.Crew is constantly making up for that little number. Like with this adorable little dress which I totally plan on making mine very soon:

I will wear you to work little blue dress :) see you soon.

Bethenny Fan

I love me some Bethenny and miss her on the RHNY, I watch her new show and as much as I love it, nothing beats her on Real Housewives (esp when she's putting Crazy Kelly in her place). I was watching a rerun of the reunion show this past weekend on Bravo and was obsessing over the green lace dress she is wearing below (not a flattering picture of her but best one I could find of dress). It was a MUCH prettier green on my TV. I love everything about it from the sleeves to the cut. Then I went to Calypso's website to remind myself how much I love that store in preparation for their upcoming GO line with Target (um..so far I only like the Elephant Tea Pot from promo shots) and I found this.... Click on it in blue or black and it is similar to her dress.

Product I am Loving Right Now

Its VERY rare that a product sticks with me enough to purchase it for a 2nd time...I am always searching for the next best thing and expecting miracles. 2 months ago I was walking around in Nordstroms doing some damage when I spotted free kiehl's samples (LOVE SAMPLES). When I saw that they were offering samples of the product below I almost put it back because it says 'oil' on the packaging. The thought of oil in skincare products makes me worry that I would erupt into a total pizza face........but I took the samples anyway. And I tried it. And I am in lurve. I even got Lynett obsessed with it. The product smells delicious and has not made me break out at all. It gets rid of any flakies/skin dryness and totally regenerates your skin into baby skin over night. The best part about it is that I use it under my retinoid cream from the derm and it works beautifully (one day I'll do a post on retinoids because I have a love/hate relationship with them). Everything about the product is yummy, I even love the glass bottle and dropper. You can find it here :)

Marshall's/TJ Maxx finds

I love going to Marshall's/TJ Maxx for bargain finds... There is a Marshall's by my house that gets the best Lilly Pulitzer shipments which gets me excited beyond words (they also have a ton of cute Trina Turk bikinis). I also find that they have the best home stuff for people on a budget. Here are some of my recent finds:Bought this Lilly dress for Mommy Dearest. I went back to Marshall's a week or so later and they were all sold out of it. It was a really popular style when it came out a year or so ago.
Love these coral prints. I was super sneaky in Marshall's with these because the blue coral was in a silver frame. I had to take out the other red coral print they had and switch the frames all on the sly (shhhhh!) I think these would look good in a bathroom.
I love these bird prints and they were so cheap ($5.00 each) I don't know where they belong in my apartment but right now I am thinking in a hallway. Where would you put them? Also, do you think they look best all in a row or 2 on top of each other as pictured? I will miss TJ Maxx and Marshall's when I go to Philly. From what I understand they are all outside of the city so Muffin better prepare on a little trip here and there...

Introducing Lovely Lynett :)

In just a little bit the most adorable and talented little lady named Lynett of http://lynnsonelove.blogspot.com/will be gracing Meg's Big Move with her presence (somewhere my gay friend RPN is clapping his hands as he has had a total straight crush on her since he met her-she is that cute.)! Lynett is my coworker but more importantly a friend, and was a big inspiration in creating this blog. I will miss her terribly after the big move but am sure that this blog (and texting!) will keep us from feeling so far away.

I have asked Lynett to do a "What's in your bag?" post because I am curious to know and I have loved reading those sorts of posts on other blogs.

Stay tuned :)

Stuff I wish I had bought

I have a bunch of photos in my iphone of clothes/shoes I tried on but never bought because it was either 1) too expensive 2) didn't fit right 3) insane
Trina Turk sequin top-insane
Pink Manolo Blahniks-too expensive. Honestly my heart hurts when I see this picture. I tried them on in the Texas Neiman Marcus and I was on Cloud 9. I still scour ebay for them and occasionally see a pair that is not my size and is missing the big charm (crazy ass people ruining a work of art, honestly what the hell would you do with a ripped off charm from a Manolo Blahnik shoe?)
Too big...too bad. I loved this dress...chances of me taking the dress to a seamstress is slim to none, chances of it sitting in my closet with tags on very high...

Insane/Stupid/Budget: These babies were at the Neiman Marcus outlet for $80.00. I carried them around the store like they were an infant but when it came down to purchasing I failed and left them in the lingerie aisle....jk (I felt bad and put them where they came from..sort of)

What do you regret buying? Did you ever leave something in a store that you still think about, or am I the only nut out there?

Sometimes Domestic

Once upon a time I had a dinner party. I don't consider myself the best cook but I would love to work on it. The best thing I have ever made thus far has been Pioneer Woman's Pasta Alla Vodka, recipe can be found here . I love her recipes and her step by step instructions with pictures is beyond helpful for someone like me... (I remember running back from the kitchen to the computer to make sure what I was concocting resembled her photos). Below is a picture of the pasta sauce which I was SO proud of. It was amazing!
Here is a picture of me with the table setting. I used some really pretty paper napkins from Lilly Pulitzer that I found at TJ Maxx . Those yellow roses are from Mommy Dearest's rose garden.
When I'm not domestic, nothing beats a plain ole' quesadilla with tons of hot sauce and sour cream!

New Wallet

I am in desperate need of a new wallet. I say need because the current wallet I am using I have had since I was in (GASP) college. It's a green leather juicy couture one. You wouldn't know it was juicy except for the tiny rhinestone heart clasp (I promise it's not obnoxious). It is however, old... and has a lot of pen marks in the inside (the inside of my purse is ALWAYS a disaster FYI.. I pray nobody makes me do a 'what's in your purse post' b/c there may be a creature in it).

Anyways, I am feeling like a big grown up girl and I think it's about time I get a big girl wallet. I would love a louis vuitton one, but that is not a reality for me now :(

Take a look at what is doable...

Kate Spade- I might get sick of this one, but the pink is so pretty.
Tory Burch 'Robinson' Wallet, I would like yellow (saw it in store)

Hair War I

I declared war with my hair at a very early age. There was a time when I honestly believed that the reason why my hair looked so smooth and straight after I left a hair salon was because of the shampoo/conditioner the hair stylist used (this was ages 7-10). So I would beg my mom and dad to buy me whatever they used, go home and wash it, let it air dry, and freak out.

Then bath and body works came out with their own version of sun in, and I used it all summer long and had ORANGE hair for a really long time.

Then I got highlights right before college. My hair was a beautiful
brown with natural highlights that did not need ANY changes... It looked pretty after, but the stylist lightened the base which was a pain in the ass (and not necessary).

Then I dyed it back dark (and it turned purple). After the purple faded out and it became a natural dark brown, I started adding highlights again and this has been my signature look for quite some time.

Next I decided I wanted OMBRE hair, a la Lauren Conrad below.
I went to a new young stylist who listened carefully and was so excited. Here is me in the process:

I ended up with this:
Let me tell you, I would get either tons of compliments or the weirdest looks from people (especially older sophisticated women) who thought I was in desperate need of getting my roots done. The biggest problem I had with the ombre hair was that the already somewhat damaged ends (because my hair was so long) became even more damaged with the bleach.

So I ended up going really dark, which I loved, then that faded and I got my hair cut--SHORT!! Oh how I miss my long hair....

Next, I'd like to go red. I watched a Lifetime Movie (dear God..) on Saturday and saw the most beautiful actress with the prettiest red hair I had ever seen. Points if you can name her! (I don't even know what the movie was called becasue Lifetime published the wrong movie title/description when it was on). The hair was MAJOR red (like little mermaid) in the light, and then in darker lights it looked brown. I think it would be great for me because I am pale and freckly (Oh Irish skin...). Chances of me doing this btw is 20%. Convince me please :)

I want.

I am lucky to have some David Yurman jewelry. I have 2 cable bracelets (which I totally lost for a week...only to find them in my jewelry box WTF!!!!). Some cookie earrings (they don't sell them anymore apparently...) and some pearl drop earrings I inherited from Mommy Dearest. But the ring above...melts my heart. I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!

I even tried it on in SAKS... see exhibit A below.
There is something about the parisiolite that I love..

Glitter + Heels + Louboutin = NM bill + Giddy Meg

I am a girly girl no doubt. I had been lemming over a pink glitter (holy hell) Louboutin's but never was able to get them...So this winter, when these babies were available....
The 2nd photo are my shoes :) excuse the nail polish stained rug.

I pounced. I bought them to wear with a black cocktail dress to an x-mas party that Muffin invited me to. Here is the cocktail dress (Notte Marchesa)
It was at a children's museum, so I thought the glitter would be perfection. Let me tell you one thing... NO PLATFORM= INTENSE PAIN. I probably wasn't the BEST date for poor Muffin Man as I was hobbling like a lunatic towards the end of the night. These babies are tucked safely in their box and red dustbag... I think it is so chic when women keep their shoes in their appropriate boxes in their closets! I am just starting this habit and cant wait to see it in full effect in my new closet in Philly. My closet at home (yes I still live with rents) is pint sized and quite unfortunate.

Speaking of glitter and all things girly, last night I went with my dear friend Robert to see Wicked. I was in heaven watching Glinda and got super giddy during a part of the show where all of her glitter heals were exposed.

Is it bad that I wished her dress was pink? Wasn't it pink in the original Wizard of OZ?

Musings

I have a little file on my computer of saved images that make me happy. So that you can get to know me better, in no particular order, I shall post:
This is what I would like the entry way to my new 1 bedroom to look like. Possibility? ABSOLUTELY not.

Monogram china = perfection (I don't know if I am partial to the gold, it's so elegant but I have seen other color options that get me equally as excited).

Monogram + blue and white + touch of yellow + classic bedroom = inspiration for future home
Pink + green + palm beachy style= meg in heaven.

Love the stuff above, but alas, it's just inspiration. Now, as I am on a budget (blehhhhhhhhhh), I have to find affordable stuff to decorate with. I have asked for help from my lovely friend Lynett who gave me the idea to get a couch with a chaise- and I have chosen this one (from IKEA).

And I am absolutely obsessed and need (NOW!!!!!!!) this mirror to go directly above said couch:

Anyways, what do you think? Have you ever sat on an IKEA couch? I have heard terrifying things about them but also great things... I have yet to see it in person but as of now it is love at first sight.
