On to Weddings

Every since I was a little girl I have been obsessed with weddings, mostly the wedding dress. My mother used to buy me Brides magazine when we were in the check out counter of the grocery store so that I could look through all the ads with beautiful dresses (she stopped this once she realized the magazines included honeymoon stuff...lol). I remember the first dress I fell in love with was from a Vera Wang ad, and at 7 years old, I vowed to wear a Vera Wang dress when I walked down the aisle. Today, I still love wedding dresses but they give me major anxiety! Especially since I will be purchasing one soon. I want to make sure that whatever I walk down the aisle in I am 100% happy with and makes me feel beautiful, so I plan on taking my time if necessary. So, in taking my time, I am taking baby steps and have started thinking about shoes (I know, I should probably wait until after I get my dress). I like the idea of buying a pair of shoes I can wear again, but I want something elegant and bridal like. Here are a few that strike my fancy:These are my dream Louboutin wedding shoes. Very bridal. They are no longer available through major retailers, so my only option would be to go through eBay. Love them.
Sergio Rossi cage booties. These shoes are so amazing. They are so interesting and different yet feminine and SUPER FANCY. I would wear these again and again and again and again. Even though they are so different, the fact that they are satin, nude, and have crystals makes them still work for a bride.
Love Love.
Prada

These ones are my favorite. A perfect option that would work well for any future occasion. The Prada website has a pair that are even more gorgeous (without a platform, and the silver color seems more bright and paler). The blue stones work beautifully as a "something blue". I am currently waiting for them to go on sale :)

What are your thoughts? What is your dream wedding shoe?????????

5 Things

Well I survived the earthquake, my first one (and hopefully last). I was on the 1oth floor of my building (normally I am on 26 but lunch room is located on 10) and felt the weirdest shaking and rumbling. It sounded and felt like the subway you feel walking on the streets...It was scary, but not quite as frightening as #3 on my 5 things listed below:

1. Salma Hayek Nuance Hydating Rose Balm
Love this stuff. It is like a fancy aquafor with the faint smell of rose. I use it before I go to sleep on my lips (cant go to sleep without aquafor or this b/c if I do, I wake up with the most chapped lips EVER!)

2. Yogurt Pretzels

I am not a huge fan of yogurt, so they should probably call them frosting pretzels b/c that is what they taste like. I just had my first one last week and have been on a yogurt pretzel kick since then! I would love to make my own (with frosting of course...)

3. Ouch!
So I was shaving (standing up, apparently most people sit) and I guess I was shaving the top of my foot (I think???) and I lost balance. While I was making the shaving motion with the razor I caught the pad of my 3rd toe from the big toe on my right foot in the razor-and off it went. My apartment literally looked like a murder scene. Blood EVERYWHERE. Had to hobble out of the shower bleeding like roadkill (thank god I had just started and no shampoo or conditioner was in my hair) . And the worst part? I was all alone, had no first aid stuff, and my iphone was not working! It was traumatizing to say the least. I have been hobbling all day long and am dreading how painful tonight's shower may be.

4. Mary Janes
Not that I will be getting much wear out of any heels anytime soon due to #4, but I fell in love with these shoes from a catalog that got sent to the previous tenant me. They remind me of Prada. The Nordstrom's photo is not as cute as the way they look on the model...I need them for fall!

5. Nails, Nails, Nails!
In my last post I talked about how wonderful pink gel topcoat is from Sephora. And above is my nails after using it consistently for 1 week. My nails before were little stubs. Like guy nails. Awful, I know! Soon they will be in tip top shape so I can start sporting some Chanel Peridot or OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark (you all know I love and am ready for fall!)

I caved.

Several ladies at my office own this shoe in every color they offer. It's called the "Scarlett" (blehhh just adds to my thinking that they look a little stripperish) by Dolce Vita. Initially, I was loving the bow but wasn't planning on making them mine. I thought that the heel was a bit high as well as the platform...Then the more I saw them the more I liked. Here they are on Lynett (one of my coworkers), she did a post on two of her most recent shoes and these were one of them:
Can you see why I like them so much? They are cute and girly. I plan on wearing them with a conservative outfit. Oh yea and the best part is, I bought them in nude from Endless on sale for $49.50 including 2 day shipping! What do you think?

PS: I am enjoying my highlights, but I didn't get a blow out at the salon so my hair looks kind of like crap and I refuse to post a photo until it looks decent.

Meet My Babies

My obsession with shoes started at a very young age, and I lie all the blame in Ms. Carrie Bradshaw, or Sex and the City in general. To be more specific, the episode (which happens to be my favorite one) where she buys/wears the shoes below. Do you remember that one? The one wear Miranda has her baby and the fall leaf falls at the very end? And Big moves?? I heart. I remember when I saw it I had no idea who made them, but I did recognize that red sole... and so my obsession started.
These ones, which I have spoken about before, happen to be my favorite.
I was able to get some MAJOR bargains with these shoes. I actually found the spikey flats at the Neiman's outlet... I've convinced myself that they were there by mistake. The old men where I work love to talk about them.
The espadrilles with the bow on the left are not Louboutin's, but I love them so much. The patent animal print ones were bought in a little southern store when I lived in South Carolina. I ate cafeteria food for a while because of them.
The blue ones are OLD. My 2nd pair, shortly after that Sex and the City episode.
These babies are also really special, but I've only worn them 2-3 times. They are SO uncomfortable b.c there is no platform, but the leopard fuzz and ribbon bow make me swoon.

So, as you have probably learned from this post, I love me some pretty shoes. Funny thing is, your most likely to find me in my old gold Jack Rogers.

Make Believe

Sometimes, when I have an event to attend and I need a new outfit I pretend that the word budget to me is foreign. I go onto online shops such as net-a-porter.com and pretend I can buy whatever I want. Muffin is going to be a groomsman in a wedding held in Rehoboth Beach Delaware in October, so this gave me the perfect chance to play dress up on net-a-porter. I have never been to Rehoboth Beach and an quite unfamiliar with Northern beaches in general, especially in October, so I am not sure that these would work....but I still love them! Anybody who has been to Rehoboth and can imagine what it would be like in October, please chime in!This Issa dress is so gorgeous. I think the shape is perfect for a wedding guest to wear, however I am not sure the color would work anywhere in October. I would put a beautiful wrap over it to wear during the ceremony if it was in a church. I would wear it with these silver Jimmy Choo's below. I love baby blue and silver together.

I am obsessed with this dress. I think that the color would work for an October wedding. It's not a flashy dress but still looks like it fits like a dream. I am WAY shorter than that model so it would be a bit longer on me which would probably be a good thing.
I would wear that brown dress with these Jimmy Choo's... I love the coral stones with the color of the dress.
I LOVE pink and I LOVE frills. This is one of those dresses that probably appeals more to women than men. Muffin probably hates this dress. I think it is fun and flirty, and the pink would go beautiful with these babies...
I have wanted these shoes ever since I laid eyes on them. I first saw them in nude on Jennifer Aniston. Pink and gold look great together!

So, I am guessing the only outfit out of the three above that would work would be the brown dress with either one of the gold Jimmy Choo's. Even though the chances of me getting one of these outfits is pretty low, I think it's a good place to start. I can probably easily find a similar dress in color for a better deal, and if I really REALLY budget myself (remember this wedding is in October) I just might, maybe, hopefully, be able to get one of the shoes.

Glitter + Heels + Louboutin = NM bill + Giddy Meg

I am a girly girl no doubt. I had been lemming over a pink glitter (holy hell) Louboutin's but never was able to get them...So this winter, when these babies were available....
The 2nd photo are my shoes :) excuse the nail polish stained rug.

I pounced. I bought them to wear with a black cocktail dress to an x-mas party that Muffin invited me to. Here is the cocktail dress (Notte Marchesa)
It was at a children's museum, so I thought the glitter would be perfection. Let me tell you one thing... NO PLATFORM= INTENSE PAIN. I probably wasn't the BEST date for poor Muffin Man as I was hobbling like a lunatic towards the end of the night. These babies are tucked safely in their box and red dustbag... I think it is so chic when women keep their shoes in their appropriate boxes in their closets! I am just starting this habit and cant wait to see it in full effect in my new closet in Philly. My closet at home (yes I still live with rents) is pint sized and quite unfortunate.

Speaking of glitter and all things girly, last night I went with my dear friend Robert to see Wicked. I was in heaven watching Glinda and got super giddy during a part of the show where all of her glitter heals were exposed.

Is it bad that I wished her dress was pink? Wasn't it pink in the original Wizard of OZ?
