Need. Want. Now/AHORA. VAMOS!

It has been a LONG while since I saw something whilst shopping that made my heart nearly jump out of my body...Enter the Fendi 'Forever Mama' Metallic Calfskin Flap Bag in the most gorgeous shade of blue I have ever seen. According to Nordies, and Fendi, it is "pale blue"-I say it is heaven. Something needs to happen REAL quick so that this can be mine. NOW.

J.Crew Finds

First off, am I the only one having issues with blogger? Since the photos are already uploaded and look like a bunch of mumbo jumbo in the text field, I am just going to be rambling instead of posting comments about my recent J.Crew purchases (on-line and in store) under the picture like a normal person. Anyhooo...went to J.Crew and fell in love with a v neck tee...I bought it in a turquoise color and then ordered more online. Seriously, it is probably the most comfy t-shirt ever... Praying that it doesn't die in the washer b/c of an accident with bleach. Next off, bought those hot pink shorts...hope to God they are not too short (bought them online). Then I got a little crazy and decided I needed some white linen pants to go with my new colorful vnecks. I purchased them in petite b/c I am quite the shorty and very lazy when it comes to hemming. Then.....look at that orange tank on me! I was chuckling like a crazy person in the dressing room because it was THAT long. At first I was mocking the tank top, and then somewhere in between laughing and taking the photo I decided I wanted it (+ it was 9.99). But seriously, do they need to be that long? Methinks not. Then I bought that hot pink long cotton cardigan. It looks really pretty over the orange tank top/dress.

Anybody else make any purchases at J.Crew this weekend? If not, plan on getting that v neck tee ASAP! You will not regret it :)

Hope you all are enjoying your lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng weekend.

NOM NOM

I've mentioned the Pioneer Woman on here before. She has AMAZING recipes (rarely healthy, always delicious)that are so easy to follow. On her website, she posts pictures of each step which is perfect for a novel cook like me. This weekend I will be trying her Make Ahead Muffin Melts. They look SO delicious!!!It seems like you can get the mixture ready to go and keep it in the fridge. Next morning, a wonderful breakfast is ready to go. Just scoop on top of an English Muffin (whole wheat if you are trying to be healthy) and stick in the broiler! Muffin wants to try them with crab..... What do you like to cook for breakfast?

Really?

It's Friday evening before a holiday, and guess who is at work? MEG! I guess this is all part of being an adult. NO BUENO...What is bueno, is this...Have you read Little Bee by Chris Cleave? If not, put it on your Summer read list...However DO NOT read if you can't handle a heavy (AND I MEAN HEAVY INTENSE) book. It is gripping from the very first pages.....Don't let the cover fool you. It seems kind of light and happy, but believe me it is not. If you have seen the book, you will mucho appreciate this shirt from Ksubi, courtesy of net-a-porter.

Check out book review for Little Bee here.

Art!!!

Art is a very personal thing. I think as long as you find something that you enjoy, go for it! Recently, I was browsing a local art festival and came across the prints you see below. I fell in LOVE. On top of having one of my favorite color combinations (pink and green), I thought the print was to die for. One little girl has peonies on her head (Peonies also happen to be my fav flower) and one has "happy birthday on my head", whatever that means. In my mind that just means pure happiness/silliness. Anyhooooooo, I was smitten with these prints and so happy to bring them home with me. Initially I wanted to put them in a bathroom, but after seeing how awesome they came out after being framed (at Pearl's!), I am thinking they should probably go in my bedroom. Also, apologies for the poor quality in picture taking, the light you see in the background of the photos is NOT part of the print. I am in DESPERATE need of a new and GOOD camera.

Don't they make you so happy!??!?!?

Classic gold frame with not so classic art = love.

What do you think? Love them as much as I do? What kind of art do you like? Do you like browsing art festivals as much as me??

PS: Got the idea to do a REALLY THICK matte (spelling!?!?) around print from a magazine and am so happy with the result!

Special Quote

Came across this quote and wanted to share.

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together." -Marilyn Monroe

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale!

Seeing the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale email on my phone this morning while lying in bed was the best alarm EVER. I LOVE this sale! Coincidently, I was just wondering about it last week b/c I knew it had to be coming up soon. Anyhooooo, here are my online picks (the sale is much better in store IMO) Was totally admiring this DVF dress when it first came out. Love the print.

Classic Burberry white shirt, a little boring, a lot cute.

Hmmm...I bet a lot of you no gusta these babies. I happen to REALLY like, and REALLY need for Philly. (sent the link to Lynett for her opinion, here is convo: Me: Awful or cool? Lynett: Ay no, awful Me: I LIKE with the feathers in my hair!!!, Lynett: Like an Indian? Me: Exactly.

Last but not least, I am seriously obsessing over this belt. The color is what got me, the double layer was the nail in the coffin. Still on the expensive side though.

What are your picks? Do you love or hate the Jimmy Choo Uggs??

PS: returned the Dolce Vita's-they run SOOOO small (a full size I'd say). Lynett warned me though.. ;)

Headboard Help!

I am beyond excited about purchasing the Camden Tufted Headboard from Ballard for my nuevo apartment, but am having major troubles picking out a fabric. It seems like my bedroom colors are leaning towards pink and green because I have inherited a gorgeous skirted vanity from my mother that has pink and green fabric (top layer is floral, bottom layer is striped). So it leaves me with very few options for the fabric choice at Ballard. Initially I was all about the green gingham, but want to avoid the 'country' look. I have always LOVED burlap fabric for a headboard, but am afraid that it may be too much of a stretch from the skirted vanity I am getting... So what's left? Ivory?

I would REAAAAAAAALLLLLLLY appreciate any decorating tips from you guys. Ballard also allows you to use your own fabric, but it seems so much easier to just choose one of the ones that they offer. Take a look and help me out! Or, let me know your thoughts on the choices above.
PS: the pictures (especially the burlap one) do not do the fabric justice. The first picture looks like plain white but its actually "Pintuck Creamy".

RHNJ Thoughts

My goodness, was I in for a SHOCKER when I watched the first episode of the new RHNJ season. Given how the previous seasons have been, for me to be shocked is a major feat. I have a strong aversion towards Melissa Gorga but have to thank Bravo for putting her on because it has made for some pretty good trashy tv. I love how she thanks Jesus for all her 'riches' several times throughout the show, and from the very start is trash talking her sister in law.
Her husband SCARES me. Go team Teresa and Joe! Can't wait to see what else is next and if this episode was any indication of whats next, I see lots of lounging time ahead of me.

I caved.

Several ladies at my office own this shoe in every color they offer. It's called the "Scarlett" (blehhh just adds to my thinking that they look a little stripperish) by Dolce Vita. Initially, I was loving the bow but wasn't planning on making them mine. I thought that the heel was a bit high as well as the platform...Then the more I saw them the more I liked. Here they are on Lynett (one of my coworkers), she did a post on two of her most recent shoes and these were one of them:
Can you see why I like them so much? They are cute and girly. I plan on wearing them with a conservative outfit. Oh yea and the best part is, I bought them in nude from Endless on sale for $49.50 including 2 day shipping! What do you think?

PS: I am enjoying my highlights, but I didn't get a blow out at the salon so my hair looks kind of like crap and I refuse to post a photo until it looks decent.

Touch of Sun

I am a firm believer in bringing pictures to a hair stylist before getting your hair done. It gives me the idea that they are on the same page as me. One time I told someone I wanted layers and I ended up with a $400.00 mullet (no excuses for that one, but I did not have a picture to show). For YEARS, everytime I have gotten my hair highlighted I have brought in a picture of Ms. Alessanda Ambrosia, the gorgeous Victoria's Secret model below. Sun Kissed highlights? Check. Well Blended? Check. Natural? Check.
Most often, my hair dresser has nailed it in the park. The only complaint I have is that they usually turn a little brassy 1-2 months after, but violet shampoo helps with that.

This is a picture of when my hair was heavily highlited. I loved the way it looked and I am hoping to achieve that summery look today. However I am going to a new hair stylist and am nervous about the turn out. In telling him what I am going for, my key words will be

1) well blended

2) sun kissed

3) natural

4) very low upkeep

5) DON'T CHANGE THE BASE COLOR

We shall see how it goes, I will post a before an after pic when I am out :) Wish me luck!

Sequins

The last time I went to J.Crew at the mall near my house I tried on the Fête sequin mini. I loved the purplish hue of the skirt and anyone who knows me knows I LOVE me some sparkle. I tried on the skirt, and to my surprise it fit really well...However, as you all know I am on a bit of a budget in preparation for the big move and I could not seem to justify purchasing the skirt. Where would I wear it? I told myself I would wear it on my birthday (that is the usual answer when the item is frivolous). I think it would look great in the winter with a black cashmere turtleneck and black opaque tights.
Here it is on me. My toe nails were painted a light lavender from Essie which looked super cute with the skirt. I also like how the black top looks with it.

So this weekend, I may 'accidentally' find myself at J.Crew, and if I see that skirt there, it will probably be coming home with me. What do you all think? Is it silly? Where would you wear it, and what would you wear it with?

What's in My Bag?

Hi everyone! Happy Friday! I hope you all have some exciting weekend plans, if not, nothing is better than a weekend of rest and laziness. Please go visit my dear friend Ashley, at Places to go Things to Buy to see what is in my everyday purse. Sometime soon I will do a post on what I keep in my clutches for nights out.

Nails!

I used to have the most amazing nails-long and strong.....then I made the horrible mistake of getting a 'gel' overlay on top to keep them even stronger. Then one day I decided I was grossed out by the gel, and decided to take it off myself. With my father's GARAGE TOOLS. Big mistake. It has taken me MONTHS to recover from it. My nails were so paper thin and then I started biting them (gross I know). So in an attempt to get them back in shape I have bought Rejuvacote.
You see this nail polish? Do you know what it is? It's Chanel Jade... and it is mine!!! It was a HIGHLY coveted color that was limited edition and started a frenzy. I believe they had some on ebay for over $200.00, and yes, people were buying it. This past year, Milani came out with a great dupe called "dressmaker" (ps, Essie's Mint Candy Apple, though I love, is no dupe)
Yes this is my nail polish. And that hat box they are in is VERY deep. My mom tells me I cannot take it all to Philly with me, that may be a problem. Can you spot the Chanel Jade ;0)?

Highs and Lows

Today was one of those days where a 5:30 pm headache is expected. Lots of fun things come with a move, but there are also sad things and things I wish I didn't have to do, like resign from my wonderful job. I wasn't expecting to do it when I did, and I was actually caught completely off guard, but in the end the time couldn't have been better. I was dreading the "I need to talk to you about something" conversation opener, and thankfully b/c God is great, it didn't end up that way. The things I said to my boss came from the heart and I will never forget the kind words he said to me. Saying goodbye is going to be hard, and I pray that my next job is just as good to me.

On a happy note, Sheridan French had a wittle tunic incident recently and me and a few others reaped the benefits of it. The beautiful little number Sheridan is wearing below is mine!
I will totally rock it with my white J.Brand Lovestory jeans (if you don't own a pair of Lovestory jeans you need to get a pair ASAP ladies) like Sheridan did in the photo.

So in conclusion, today was the day I resigned from my amazing job, and the day I got my first Sheridan French item :)

Hair Help, to Side Bang or not?

I need your help. I feel like I have styled my hair the same for way too long. I have always wanted side bangs, but have been way to nervous to take the plunge... Here is my reasoning:
  1. I usually part my hair down the middle (just like in the photo below)
  2. I have wavy hair that sometimes can disguise itself into that pretty beachy look, or like a crazy woman
  3. Lately, I rarely use my hair iron/blow dryer. Trying to grow it long, and keep it as healthy as possible (I hear you have to style bangs no matter what, or you just add to the crazy lady look)
  4. I don't like hair in my face
  5. Scared of change!
I separated my hair inspiration in a "good" and "bad" category, below is the bad-not ugly, just not for me.
I wouldn't like that much hair in my face. Plus, I have been told I have a really small face, so if that much hair was in it, I might look like cousin it.
A little to severe-also not good inspiration because my hair is not 1) one color 2) long and straight 2) wouldn't want to put the energy into ironing it that straight
I am usually not a fan when the bangs don't look like they are a part of the rest of the hair. I LOVE me some Elle Macpherson (her lingerie is amazing---not too mention she is preeeeetty) but the above photo is a perfect example of the dual hair syndrome to me. Now for the good..
Maybe I am just obsessed with Something Borrowed, but I was ooing and aaing about Ginnifer Goodwin's hair the whole time. Her length is similar to mine, the color is doable for me, and her bangs seem to easily push to the side and are not too blunt.

Loved Brit Brit since I was a 6th grader-this photo has been one of my favorite 'bang' pictures for a long time. I love her buttery blonde hair here (totally not doable for me), but there is something about the bangs, they look like they could go to the side and look as great as they do in that photo..also, her hair is parted down the middle.
Love these. They blend perfectly with her hair-the antithesis (yes I confirmed the definition w/ dictionary.com) of Ms. Machperson's hair above.
She's just so darn cute! I like how we still see the 'bangy' (not confirmed with dictionary.com) look while still showing some forehead.

So I need your help. Are bangs a pain in the butt? Will I regret them as soon as I get them? The best advice I have gotten is from my gorgeous friend ADM who has AWESOME side bangs-she said to tell the stylist to make the ends feathery so they blend well. As of now, it looks like I will be getting bangs on Saturday... Looking forward to your input :)

I want.

Do you know who Sheridan French is? If not, head on over to her blog or her website which showcases her gorgeous designs. She has the cutest babies I have ever seen (seriously) and awesome style. I have been lemming over the Georgina dress below...I'll take one in every color please! I am hoping she starts to sell online soon. As soon as she does, you can bet I will be placing an order...

Mr. Men

Omg y'all.. my heart MELTED when I came across google today and saw one of my FAVORITE Mr. Men, Mr. Messy staring at me! If you keep clicking the picture, it will give you a different one each time. I loved these books when I was little, everything from the size to the pictures! Mr. Noisy with his mouth wide open was my favorite one. I tots plan on reading these books to my future babies and look forward to laughing again each time. Happy Birthday Mr. Roger Hargreaves!

That was quick..

Nordstrom's is now featuring JS Collections "Duchess" wedding gown..

Not quite. More importantly, I am a little bit put off by the model's facial expression-major stank eye no?
